The Tremembé tribe is located in the village of Almofala, Ceará, in the northeastern part of Brazil. The original tune integrates the repertoire of dances, called Torém, used to commemorate the fiesta of caju (cashew-apple). Two versions of the tune have been used, as collected by Aloysio de Alencar Pinto and Marcos Guilherme. A quotation of another Tremembé song, Ererequatiá, is also incorporated.
