Composer and Conductor DIETER FROMMLET

A graduate of the Spohn-Gymnasium in Ravensburg and the Music Hochschule in Stuttgart (1957), where he specialized in high school music teaching, composer Dieter Frommlet (b.1933) has been since 1957 a professional choirmaster, with various choirs and chamber orchestras.

From 1967-1976 he taught at the Gymnasium der Werkschule Merz in Stuttgart, From 1967-1984 he also served as the Director of Development for the Schwabian Singing Association and was one of the founders of Stuttgart Choral Days. From 1975-1997 he lectured to choral directors in seminars at the Musikhochschule (later the State Academy) in Trossingen. After a busy career, including many concerts in the Stuttgart area, concerts abroad, recordings and radio productions, and prizes for choral competitions as well as for his own compositions, he retired from choral directing in 1998, and lives in Weinstadt.

• 1952-57 Studium an der Staatl. Hochschule f. Musik Stuttgart, Fachrichtung Schulmusik/Lehrer an höheren Schulen.
• seit 1957 Tätigkeit als Berufschorleiter. Leitung verschiedener Chöre und eines Kammerorchesters.
• 1975-1997 Dozent für Dirigieren, Chorpraxis und Gehörbildung am Seminar für Chorleitung - 1983 der Musikhochschule Trossingen, dann der Bundesakademie Trossingen angeschlossen.
• seit 1957 Oratorienaufführungen und viele Konzerte im Großraum Stuttgart. Konzerte im Ausland, Schallplattenaufnahmen und Rundfunkproduktionen (u.a.eigener Werke).
• 1998 Beendigung der Chorleitertätigkeit.
• Preise bei Chorwettbewerben mit mehreren Chören, u. Kompositionspreise.
