| Zbigniew Henrique Morozowicz, born August 29, 1934 in Curitiba, Brazil to a Polish
family, became known world-wide by his artistic name of
Henrique de Curitiba. His first musical instruction came from his mother, a good pianist. He graduated from the
School of Music and Fine Arts in Paraná in 1953 and then entered the Escola Livre de Música in São Paulo to advance his
study of piano with Henry Jolles, and composition with H. J. Kroellreuter. Later (1960) he took advanced courses in Poland. In 1981
he received the Master's degree in musical composition from Cornell University and Ithaca College in New York, under the
guidance of the eminent American composer, Karel Husa. The author of more than 130 works in many forms and styles,
Curitiba's personal preference was for choral music. He died in Curitiba on 18 February, 2008 at the age of 73.
